Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,525 head Aug. 20, compared to 1,620 head last week and 4,350 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were steady to $2 lower, heifers were steady. Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady. Demand continues to stay good on most classes of cattle. Weigh-ups were average. Good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 44% steers, 43% heifers, 13% bulls, with 33% feeders over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 higher, high yielding lean cows were $2 to $5 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. A total of 180 cows and bulls sold with 62% going to harvest.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 828 lbs., 107.00; 33 head, 1011 lbs., 95.75. Boners, 28 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1560 lbs., 54.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 66.50; low dressing, 49.50 to 53.00. Lean, 38 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 52.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 65.00; low dressing, 47.50 to 51.00. Light, 20 head, 85 to 90% lean, 705 to 975 lbs., 44.50 to 48.00; high dressing, 49.00; low dressing, 39.50 to 43.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 15 head, 1250 to 2325 lbs., 64.50 to 68.00; high dressing, 69.00 to 72.50; low dressing, 60.00 to 63.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1075 to 1100 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, average quality, 860.00 to 900.00.
