Tulsa livestock auction report
The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,525 head Aug. 20, compared to 1,620 head last week and 4,350 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, steer calves were steady to $2 lower, heifers were steady. Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady. Demand continues to stay good on most classes of cattle. Weigh-ups were average. Good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 44% steers, 43% heifers, 13% bulls, with 33% feeders over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 higher, high yielding lean cows were $2 to $5 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. A total of 180 cows and bulls sold with 62% going to harvest.
