Tulia cattle sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,729 head Aug. 20, compared to 2,000 head last week and 2,467 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active and demand good to very good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 85% and slaughter cows and bulls 15% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 52% of the run, heifers 48%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 84%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 534 lbs., fleshy 112.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 123.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 119.00 to 122.00, 600 to 650 lb. calves 107.00 to 108.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 116.25 to 118.50; package 855 lbs., 111.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 375 lbs., 127.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 120.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.00 to 111.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 109.00 to 113.50; package 845 lbs., 110.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, part load 646 lbs., 100.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 110.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 382 lbs., 117.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 127.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.50 to 110.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 107.25 to 110.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 429 lbs., 115.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 111.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.50 to 109.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 49.00 to 54.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 52.50 to 56.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 48.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1575 to 1665 lbs., 62.00 to 67.00.
