Texhoma livestock sales
The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 831 head Aug. 22, compared to 750 head last week and 564 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers steady in a limited test. There was no test on calves. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average to full. The supply included 65% steers, 34% heifers with 100% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 341 cows and bulls sold with 32% to packers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 146 head, 880 lbs., 113.00; 54 head, 926 lbs., 106.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 63 head, 840 lbs., 111.00. Medium and large frame 2, 16 head, 775 to 790 lbs., 108.50 to 111.00 (109.76); 6 head, 988 lbs., 98.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 681 lbs., 108.50; 120 head, 815 lbs., 106.00. Medium and large frame 2, 12 head, 775 to 785 lbs., 96.00 to 96.50 (96.21). Slaughter cows: Breakers, 2 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1325 to 1450 lbs., 54.50; low dressing, 50.50. Boners, 27 head, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 2000 lbs., 53.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 51.50. Lean, 32 head, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1325 lbs., 50.50 to 53.50; high dressing, 53.00 to 56.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 49.50. Light, 3 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 950 lbs., 44.00 to 45.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 13 head, 1500 to 2400 lbs., 64.50 to 67.00; high dressing, 69.00 to 72.00; low dressing, 58.00 to 62.50. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 2 years old, 975 to 1125 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality, 900.00 to 910.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1150 to 1200 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality, 805.00 to 860.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1175 to 1400 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, average quality, 650.00 to 800.00. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 80- to 300-lb. calves, average quality ,1010.00 to 1200.00; 10+ years old, 1150 to 1175 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average quality, 800.00 to 825.00.
