St. Joseph feeder pigs
The St. Joseph feeder pig auction, St. Joseph, Mo., reported receipts of 125 head Aug. 21, compared to 238 head last week and 222 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News, St. Joseph, Mo. Compared to last week, a few comparable sales of 60- to 70-pound feeder pigs sold $10 to $13 higher. Demand was much improved with cooler temperatures and lighter receipts driving prices higher. Prices paid per head on actual weights. U.S. 1 to 2: 25 to 30 lbs., 29.00 to 33.00; 60 to 70 lbs., 40.00 to 46.00; package 85 lbs., 68.00. U.S. 1 to 3: package 69 lbs., 40.00; package 88 lbs., 48.25; package 121 lbs., 60.00. Date: 8/23/07
