Pratt livestock sales reportPratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,238 head Aug. 16, compared to 4,097 head last week and 3,641 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers at 300 to 700 pounds and feeder heifers at 300 to 650 pounds were not enough for a market test but a steady undertone was noted. Feeder steers weighing 700 to 850 pounds were $1 to $2 lower, and 850 to 1000 pounds were not tested. Feeder heifers weighing 650 to 800 pounds were steady to mostly $1 lower, and 800 to 1000 pounds were not tested. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were not tested. Receipts included 88% 600 pounds and over, 10% 600 pounds and under, 2% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 43% steers and 57% heifers.
