Lexington cattle sales

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 1,500 head Aug. 17, compared to 2,200 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared with two weeks ago, comparable offerings were too few to determine an accurate market comparison. Demand was very good with the bulk of offerings consisting of spayed heifers. Trade activity was moderate. The total offerings consisted of 38% steers and 62% heifers, 100% of the total feeder offerings weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 819 to 824 lbs., 119.00 to 119.50 (119.03); 111 head, 893 lbs., 119.35; 900 to 909 lbs., 115.25 to 116.00 (115.52). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 19 head, 717 lbs., 123.00; 788 to 798 lbs., 117.00 to 120.25 (118.02); 4 head, 831 lbs., 116.00; 5 head, 861 lbs., 118.25; 900 to 938 lbs., 109.50 to 114.00 (112.73).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 622 lbs., 117.00; 15 head, 683 lbs., 114.75; 4 head, 716 lbs., 114.00; 710 to 740 lbs., 117.00 to 119.25 (117.73) value added; 75 head, 764 lbs., 117.50 value added; 850 to 877 lbs., 108.65 to 110.75 (110.07); 29 head, 884 lbs., 111.25 value added; 960 to 980 lbs., 107.00 to 107.85 (107.55). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 head, 590 lbs., 120.50; 43 head, 744 lbs., 112.00; 736 to 749 lbs., 116.00 to 117.00 (116.50) value added; 71 head, 784 lbs., 115.10; 778 to 797 lbs., 114.00 to 115.10 (114.68) value added; 827 to 842 lbs., 113.00 to 113.90 (113.63); 8 head, 899 lbs., 107.00; 851 to 858 lbs., 109.25 to 110.50 (110.31) value added.
