Grain bids end day mixed

Grains and soybeans were mixed Aug. 20, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

Wheat was lower with the thought that the market could be overbought and vulnerable to set back in the financial markets. Corn started out lower, but ended higher on the day with the idea that the weekly crop report could show the crop in the southern Corn Belt could show less potential. Soybeans were mixed as ideas of rains in the Midwest and Northern Corn Belt will help yield potential and ease the stress on beans.

Grains inspected for export for week ending Aug. 16: Wheat totaled 45.7 million bushels, up 19.0 million bushels; corn 38.6 million bushels, down 6.2 million bushels; sorghum 2.8 million bushels, down 2.2 million bushels and soybeans 9.1 million bushels, up 4.1 million bushels compared to a week ago.

Year to date: Wheat totaled 234.0 million bushels up 60.5 million; corn 1966.8 million bushels down 10.1 million; sorghum 138.9 million bushels down 30.6 million and soybeans 1078.5 million bushels up 169.0 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.
