Goldthwaite sheep salesThe Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Aug. 17, reported receipts of 1,845 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,928 head last week and 2,855 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were steady, heavy weights were firm on a light test. Stock and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were $2 to $3 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 150 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 120 lbs., 55.00 to 78.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 320.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 120 lbs., 83.00 to 93.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 50 to 80 lbs., 89.00 to 99.00. Ewes, Good 2 to 3, fleshy, few 180 lbs., 34.00. Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 140 lbs., 30.00 to 35.00. Bucks, 100 to 200 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00. Barbados, lambs, 50 to 70 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00; ewes, 60 to 75 lbs., 47.00 to 50.00.
