FSA emergency loans available in counties with losses from May

Kansas

Bill R. Fuller, state executive director of the Kansas Farm Service Agency announced Aug. 9 that FSA is making emergency loans available to help qualified producers recover from production and physical losses due to the tornados, strong storms and flooding from May 4 through June 1, 2007. Presidential Disaster Designation M1699 has been amended to include additional counties which are eligible for FSA emergency loans.

Presidential Disaster Designation M1699 and amendments: (If county is listed under M1699 multiple times, then latest application deadline applies).

Primary: Kiowa.

Contiguous: Barber, Clark, Comanche, Edwards, Ford, Pratt.

Final date to apply: Jan. 7, 2008.

Amendment 1

Primary: Edwards, Pratt, Stafford.

Contiguous: Barber, Barton, Ford, Hodgeman, Kingman, Kiowa, Pawnee, Reno, Rice.

Final date to apply: Jan. 11, 2008.

Amendment 2

Primary: Barton, Osborne, Ottawa, Phillips.

Eligible loan funds may be used to restore or replace essential property and pay production costs associated with the disaster year. Applicants can borrow up to 100 percent of actual production or physical losses not to exceed $500,000. The current rate for these low interest loans is 3.75 percent.

Producers must meet eligibility requirements and not be able to obtain credit from a commercial lender. FSA will consider each loan application on its own merits, taking into account the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.
