Denison feeder cattle reportThe Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,215 head Aug. 16, compared to 2,163 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa. This was a special feeder cattle sale. Demand was good. There was no recent sale for a market test. The sale featured many new crop calves coming off cows. Receipts included 48% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 58% feeder heifers and 42% feeder steers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 267 to 272 lbs., 181.00 to 200.00 (190.51); 16 head, 300 to 338 lbs., 160.00 to 175.00 (165.21); 18 head, 372 to 393 lbs., 149.00 to 149.50 (149.27); 4 head, 429 lbs., 148.00; 462 to 463 lbs., 151.00 to 154.50 (152.30); 554 to 597 lbs., 126.75 to 128.00 (127.64); 654 to 687 lbs., 125.00 to 128.50 (126.11); 709 to 743 lbs., 123.00 to 125.50 (123.24); 773 to 793 lbs., 120.00 to 122.00 (121.11); 805 to 811 lbs., 118.00 to 120.50 (119.21); 17 head, 900 lbs., 108.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 402 to 443 lbs., 136.00 to 142.00 (139.19); 451 to 479 lbs., 137.00 to 141.00 (138.55); 8 head, 620 to 635 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00 (121.90); 17 head, 652 to 695 lbs., 115.75 to 119.00 (116.85).
