Arkansas cattle sales reportThe weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas for the week ending Aug. 16, showed estimated receipts of 8,730 head, compared to 9,255 head last week and 12,883 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold nearly steady. Slaughter bulls sold steady. Feeders sold weak to $3 lower. The supply included, 5,190 stocker and feeder calves, 2,230 feeder yearlings, 520 replacement cows, 665 slaughter cows, and 125 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 45% yearling heifers. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 47.00 to 53.00; high dressing, 53.00 to 58.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 46.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 46.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 43.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 49.00 to 55.50; low dressing, 35.00 to 43.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 35.00 to 43.00; low dressing, 32.00 to 35.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 60.00 to 68.00; high dressing, 68.00 to 72.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 59.00. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, english cross and english/exotic crosses, 300 to 350 lbs., 140.00 to 150.00 few sales to 175.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 131.00 to 141.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 125.00 to 135.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 126.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 119.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.00 to 117.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 113.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 650 to 800 lbs., open heiferettes 66.00 to 76.00; 2 to 3 years old, 800 to 1000 lbs., open heiferettes 56.00 to 66.00; 3 to 7 years old, 850 to 1250 lbs., third stage 61.00 to 71.00, 750.00 to 850.00 per head; second stage 57.00 to 67.00, 675.00 to 775.00 per head; first stage or open 54.00 to 64.00; 8 to 10 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., second to third stage 46.00 to 56.00, 625.00 to 725.00 per head; thin grazing cows 48.00 to 58.00. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 7 years old, 800 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 825.00 to 925.00 per pair; 200- to 300-lb. calves, 1025.00 to 1125.00 per pair, few to 1325.00.
