Ada livestock sale notes

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., Aug. 17, reported receipts of 1,820 head, compared to 1,915 head last week and 4,171 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Demand was good on all classes. Weigh-ups were average. Flesh conditions were medium. The supply included 43% heifers and 25% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 550 cows and bulls sold with 30% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 309 lbs., 178.00; 5 head, 445 lbs., 143.00; 8 head, 522 to 525 lbs., 126.00 to 131.50 (129.43); 7 head, 585 to 596 lbs., 119.00 to 124.00 (122.59); 11 head, 611 to 631 lbs., 117.00 to 117.50 (117.32); 9 head, 650 to 688 lbs., 115.00 to 117.00 (115.89); 9 head, 701 to 727 lbs., 112.00 to 115.00 (113.65). Medium and large frame 2, 11 head, 325 lbs., 159.00; 10 head, 381 to 393 lbs., 130.00 to 135.00 (132.96); 14 head, 491 to 497 lbs., 122.00 to 125.00 (124.35); 5 head, 509 lbs., 122.00; 568 to 598 lbs., 111.50 to 118.00 (114.06); 11 head, 600 to 631 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00 (114.46); 5 head, 695 to 698 lbs., 110.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 25 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1625 lbs., 53.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 55.00; low dressing, 48.00 to 51.00. Boners, 50 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1250 lbs., 53.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 57.00; low dressing, 48.00 to 51.00. Lean, 35 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1150 lbs., 46.00 to 47.00; high dressing, 48.00 to 49.00; low dressing, 41.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 30 head, 1300 to 2125 lbs., 68.00 to 70.00; high dressing, 72.00 to 76.00; low dressing, 64.00 to 66.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 6 years old, 1100 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average to high black-black whiteface, 860.00 to 985.00; 5 to 7 years old, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average black-red, 710.00 to 850.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 years old, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 220-lb. calves, average black-black whiteface, 1090.00 to 1250.00; 5 to 7 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., with 260- to 400-lb. calves, average to high black-Charolais, 1080.00 to 1350.00.
