Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., Aug. 13, reported receipts of 982 head, compared to 1,559 head last week and 1,350 head last year, according to the USDA to South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold steady to $1 lower with a large number of show lambs offered. Slaughter ewes sold steady to $2 lower on a light test. Feeder lambs sold mostly steady. Receipts included about 50% slaughter lambs, 14% slaughter ewes, 26% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 45 head, 123 lbs., 103.75; 30 head, 140 lbs., 105.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 18 head, 124 lbs., 103.50; 130 to 147 lbs., 103.00 to 105.00 (104.30). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 120 to 126 lbs., 101.50 to 102.75 (102.15). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 160 to 188 lbs., 31.50 to 36.00 (33.29). Utility 1 to 2, 10 head, 147 lbs., 23.00; 7 head, 164 lbs., 28.00. Cull and Utility 1 to 2, 126 to 147 lbs., 20.00 to 22.00 (20.61). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 55 to 58 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00 (113.78); 60 to 67 lbs., 115.00 to 117.00 (115.99); 23 head, 78 lbs., 109.00; 13 head, 81 lbs., 100.50; 92 to 96 lbs., 98.00 to 106.00 (101.61); 101 to 104 lbs., 93.50 to 101.00 (98.96). Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 56 lbs., 106.00; 12 head, 64 to 66 lbs., 96.00 to 103.00 (98.97); 5 head, 71 lbs., 100.00.
