Pratt livestock market reportPratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 4,097 head, Aug. 9, compared to 2,251 head, last week and 4,079 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers at 300 to 700 pounds and feeder heifers at 300 to 650 pounds were not enough for a market test but a firm undertone was noted. Feeder steers weighing 700 to 850 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, and 850 to 1000 pounds were steady. Feeder heifers weighing 650 to 850 pounds were steady to mostly $2 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 87% 600 pounds and over, 7% 600 pounds and under, 6% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 72% steers and 28% heifers.
