Joplin regional sales reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 2,700 head Aug. 13, compared to 5,122 head last week and 4,791 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $2 to $5 lower. The quality of calves and light yearlings was not as attractive as at the last sale. Continued hot weather reduced receipts and the number of better quality cattle. Demand was moderate and supply light. The supply included 37% steers, 47% heifers, 14% bulls and 49% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 350 to 400 lbs., 142.00 to 145.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 130.00 to 141.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 121.00 to 127.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 112.00 to 121.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 111.25 to 113.00; 800 to 901 lbs., 103.25 to 108.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 140.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 121.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 111.00 to 117.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 112.75 to 113.00; 860 to 880 lbs., 103.00 to 110.00. Large frame 1 to 2, 430 to 590 lbs., 114.00 to 121.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 103.50 to 107.50. Large frame 2, 330 to 400 lbs., 123.00 to 131.00. Holstein steers: Large frame 3, lot 486 lbs., 94.00; 570 to 750 lbs., 87.00 to 87.50. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 470 lbs., 114.00 to 120.00, 2 lots fancy 125.00 to 127.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.25 to 110.00; 700 to 900 lbs., 101.50 to 105.50.
