AJSA National Classic winners announcedMore than 200 members of the American Junior Simmental Association recently competed at the 27th AJSA National Classic, held July 9-15, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. Exhibiting nearly 300 head of Simmental and Simbrah cattle, contestants representing 27 states participated in a variety of cattle related competitions throughout the week. The Classic was planned and coordinated by the Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes in conjunction with the American Simmental Association. The AJSA National Classic is traditionally the grand finale of the activity year for the Association's youth program. Divided into Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Novice divisions, members compete in a wide range of events, including a Cattlemen's Quiz, Public Speaking, Sales Talk, Cattle Judging, Skill-A-Thon, Team Fitting, and the traditional Simmental and Simbrah shows and showmanship. Competition is designed to enhance the learning experience and showcase the skills of the contestants, through hands-on application, friendly competition, and public recognition.
