West Plains regional salesThe Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,850 head Aug. 7, compared to 4,690 head last week and 2,409 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers were mostly steady, instances were $1 to $2 higher on weights under 450 pounds, exception 500- to 550-pound steers sold $1 to $3 lower. Heifers under 500 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, over 500 pounds were steady to $1 higher with 6 to 7 weights $1 to $2 higher. The supply was moderate. Demand was moderate to good, and tailing toward the close as orders filled. Buyers were fairly selective all day and not all buyers were in the market. The supply consisted of 50% steers, with early 53% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 139.50 to 148.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 132.50 to 142.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 123.00 to 129.00, package fancy 459 lbs., 134.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 117.00 to 126.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 112.50 to 123.75, several soft calves 109.50 to 113.00; 700 to 760 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00, some calves 107.50.
