Tulia livestock auction newsThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,386 head Aug. 6, compared to 2,170 head last week and 2,141 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds had no good price comparison due to the limited test last week, although a higher undertone was noted. Steers over 600 pounds were firm to $1 higher. Heifers over 600 pounds were firm to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were not tested. Trade was active and demand good to very good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 99% and slaughter cows and bulls 1% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 64% of the run, heifers 36%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 83%.
