St. Onge livestock salesThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 465 head Aug. 3, compared to 1,277 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Trends were not applicable due to the auction not recently being reported. Demand was good on all classes. Feeder receipts included 50% steers and 50% heifers, with 100% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 43% feeder cattle, 45% replacement cows, 10% slaughter cows and bulls with balance baby calves, cow/calf pairs, replacement cows and other miscellaneous cattle. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 680 lbs., 124.00; 17 head, 771 to 772 lbs., 112.50 to 117.00 (114.09); 13 head, 915 lbs., 106.75; 20 head, 959 lbs., 106.75; 1062 to 1083 lbs., 97.75 to 99.75 (99.58). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 782 lbs., 109.50 value added; 70 head, 884 lbs., 110.00 value added; 9 head, 928 lbs., 106.75 value added. Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2: 2 to 4 years old, 725 to 1100 lbs., 71.50 to 89.00. Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 1160 to 1300 lbs., few 58.00 to 69.00; middle aged to aged, 1175 to 1300 lbs., few 53.00 to 57.50. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1600 lbs., 50.50 to 54.75, few 56.00 to 58.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1460 to 1725 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 51.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1170 lbs., 45.50 to 48.50; low dressing, 42.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 48.00 to 49.00; 900 lbs., 45.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1540 to 2300 lbs., 62.25 to 66.25; high dressing, 71.25; low dressing, 59.59 to 61.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, exposed 40 to 45 days, black/red, price CWT, 1145 to 1165 lbs., broken black-black whiteface, 51.75 to 54.25; 1040 to 1250 lbs., broken black-black whiteface, 47.75 to 48.50 thin.
