Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,700 head Aug. 8, compared to 2,027 head last week and 1,622 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers traded mostly steady. The quality of calves was not as attractive as last week. Several cattle showed heat stress. Demand was moderate to good and supply moderate. The feeder supply included 37% steers, 15% Holsteins, 34% heifers, 14% bulls, with 41% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 401 lbs., 131.00 to 143.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 120.50 to 124.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 117.00 to 122.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 119.50; package 916 lbs., 108.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 338 lbs., 151.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 118.00 to 123.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 112.00 to 115.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 340 to 392 lbs., 104.00 to 105.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 90.00 to 97.00; 560 to 685 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00; 730 to 850 lbs., 80.00 to 89.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.50 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 113.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 104.50 to 107.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 120.00 to 126.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 109.50 to 118.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.50 to 114.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 103.50 to 113.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 360 to 390 lbs., 137.00 to 143.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 124.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 123.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 112.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 95.00 to 103.00.
