Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,559 head Aug. 6, compared to 1,157 head last week and 1,497 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold weak to $1 lower. Slaughter ewes sold steady to $3 lower. Feeder lambs sold steady to $1 higher on higher quality feeders, feeders displaying less quality sold $2 to $3 lower. Receipts included about 36% slaughter lambs, 35% feeder lambs and 18% slaughter ewes and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 22 head, 133 lbs., 105.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 82 head, 128 lbs., 104.50; 136 to 148 lbs., 104.00 to 105.50 (105.24). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 122 to 128 lbs., 102.00 to 103.00 (102.43). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 149 to 159 lbs., 34.00 to 37.00 (34.43). Utility and Good 2 to 3, 9 head, 179 to 190 lbs., 26.00 to 29.00 (27.29). Utility 1 to 2, 152 to 153 lbs., 22.50 to 26.50 (24.97). Cull and Utility 1 to 2, 131 to 155 lbs., 20.00 to 23.50 (22.62). Cull 1, 133 to 156 lbs., 17.00 to 19.00 (18.55). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 42 lbs., 116.00; 51 to 56 lbs., 113.00 to 118.00 (117.41); 63 to 66 lbs., 111.00 to 117.00 (114.57); 72 to 74 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00 (111.09); 84 to 85 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00 (106.52); 93 to 94 lbs., 99.50 to 103.00 (101.38); 6 head, 119 lbs., 95.00.
