Joplin regional market reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,122 head Aug. 7, compared to 2,787 head last week and 4,868 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, heifers under 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher, steers and heifers over 600 pounds were steady after last weeks sharp upturn. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate. Dry conditions have started to hurt pastures with no relief in sight as temperatures expected to hit the 100 degree mark. The feeder supply included 45% steers, 45% heifers, 9% bulls, with 50% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 370 to 400 lbs., 140.00 to 144.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 127.50 to 136.00, few thin 132.00 to 138.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 121.00 to 134.00; 600 to 700 119.00 to 129.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 115.75 to 121.00; 800 to 860 lbs., 111.50 to 115.85; 950 to 1000 lbs., 103.50 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 245 to 300 lbs., 147.50 to 163.00; 325 to 365 lbs., 144.00 to 145.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 123.00 to 130.00, thin 132.00 to 134.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 118.00 to 128.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 114.50 to 122.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 109.00 to 115.50; 800 to 835 lbs., 107.00 to 110.00.
