Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas. Aug. 3, reported receipts of 1,500 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,287 head last week and 2,469 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs light weights were $8 to $10 lower, heavy weights were not tested. Stock and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were steady. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 70 to 90 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 50.00 to 62.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 150.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 88.00 to 100.00.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 140 to 150 lbs., 35.00 to 39.00. Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 140 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00. Barbados: Lambs, 45 to 75 lbs., 80.00 to 94.00. Ewes, 60 to 80 lbs., 40.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 99.00 to 110.50, 60 to 80 lbs., 102.00 to 112.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 99.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 45.00 to 56.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 70.00 to 77.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 70 lb. fancy nannies 106.00 to 117.00. Nannies, Selection 1, few fancy 100.00 to 145.00 per head; 80 to 120 lbs., 90.00 to 107.50. Selection 2, 80 to 120 lbs., 60.00 to 90.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 39.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 90 to 195 lbs., 88.00 to 147.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 90.00 to 109.00.
