Georgia cattle auction summaryThe summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Aug. 3, reported receipts of 11,771 head, compared to 11,980 head last week and 11,899 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher, bulls were steady to $2 higher, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $3 higher, steer calves and heifer calves were $1 to $2 higher, replacement cows were $1 to $2 higher. The offering consisted of 7% steers over 600 pounds, 36% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 30% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 12% slaughter cows, and 2% bulls.
