Farm Bureau announces Market Advantage 2007 scheduleIowa Those interested in learning about issues impacting agriculture and gaining commodity marketing tips should attend the 2007 Market Advantage conference. The seminars will be held Aug. 21 in Fort Dodge at the Best Western Starlite Village and Aug. 22 in Williamsburg at the Holiday Inn Amana Colonies. Sponsored by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Market Advantage 2007 is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the issues that drive agriculture's bottom line. Registration begins daily at 8 a.m., with programs adjourning at 4:15 p.m. "Market Advantage is designed to provide all farmers with information they can apply immediately to improve their farm incomes," says Charles Brown, farm business services administrator, IFBF. "Nationally-recognized speakers will provide insight into today's agriculture and share ideas on marketing strategies." Key speakers and their topics of discussion include: Sterling Liddell, IFBF senior research and development analyst--How is ethanol, biodiesel, and alternative energy changing the scope of agriculture in the U.S. and the world? John Phipps, a contributing editor for Farm Journal and Top Producer magazines and host of U.S. Farm Report--A discussion on how adopting attitudes and practices can optimize your chances for true prosperity. Dr. S. Elwynn Taylor, an ISU extension meteorologist--Discussion on how weather is a major factor in crop yield volatility and in mid-season crop price volatility.
