Faith livestock sales reportThe Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith S.D., reported receipts of 1,179 head Aug. 6, compared to 75 head last week and 2,892 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Feeder cattle were not tested from the last sale, so trends were not applicable. Feeder cows sold $1 to $3 higher in a limited test. Slaughter cows were not well tested. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $2 higher. Feeder receipts included 28% steers and 72% heifers, with 92% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 83% feeder cattle, 4% replacement cows, 10% slaughter cows and bulls with balance other miscellaneous cattle. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 684 lbs., 129.00; 803 to 847 lbs., 114.00 to 116.00 (115.31); 17 head, 856 lbs., 116.00; 878 to 891 lbs., 123.50 value added. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 32 head, 508 lbs., 129.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 28 head, 597 lbs., 129.00; 12 head, 636 to 646 lbs., 120.00 to 126.75 (123.96); 662 to 676 lbs., 124.00 to 125.50 (125.34); 726 to 748 lbs., 113.00 to 115.75 (115.29); 750 to 784 lbs., 112.00 to 115.75 (113.86); 17 head, 812 lbs., 109.50; 6 head, 910 lbs., 105.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 20 head, 450 lbs., 124.00. Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old. Feeder cows, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1150 to 1275 lbs., few 56.50 to 62.50; middle-aged to aged, 1050 to 1350 lbs., few 52.50 to 56.00. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1600 lbs 55.50 to 58.00. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1045 to 1400 lbs., 52.00 to 55.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 48.00 to 50.50. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1475 to 2315 lbs., 62.25 to 67.75; low dressing, 57.50 to 61.75. Date: 8/9/07
