Dodge City cattle sales report

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 2,260 head Aug. 1, compared to 2,701 head last week and 3,417 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, feeder steers 300 to 800 pounds and heifers 300 to 700 pounds not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Steers 800 to 1000 pounds and heifers 700 to 800 pounds were $1 to mostly $2 higher. Slaughter cows light supply were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls on a light test steady. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 89% 600 pounds and over, 7% 600 pounds and under, 4% slaughter cows and bulls with 88 head, in early. The feeder supply included 71% steers and 29% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 650 to 700 lbs., 113.50 to 117.00 (114.81); 700 to 750 lbs., 117.25; 850 to 900 lbs., 111.85 to 112.00 (111.90); 900 to 950 lbs., 109.50 to 110.25 (109.88). Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 556 lbs., 116.00; 5 head, 654 lbs., 116.00; 5 head, 722 lbs., 113.00; 7 head, 770 lbs., 115.85; 8 head, 868 lbs., 106.00. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 55.50 to 61.00; high dressing, 62.00; low dressing, 52.50 to 53.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 54.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.50 to 62.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 53.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 66.00 to 69.00; low dressing, 60.00 to 65.00.
