Apache livestock sales report

Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 3,032 head Aug. 4, compared to 2,721 head last week and 5,959 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were firm to $2 higher. Top grading feeder heifers lightly tested and few sales steady. Steer and heifer calves were $1 to $3 higher. Demand was very good for all classes. Feeder cattle were in slightly thin to moderate flesh conditions. The supply included 72% over 600 pounds, 28% under 600 pounds. The total supply included 49% heifers. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Packer demand was moderate to good for light receipts. Demand was good for bred cows and pairs. A total of 289 cows and bulls sold with 35% going to packers.

Lean, 14 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1275 lbs., 47.50 to 50.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 61.50. Light, 14 head, 75 to 90% lean, 800 to 975 lbs., 46.50 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 24 head, 1350 to 2175 lbs., 64.50 to 67.00; high dressing, 67.50 to 71.50; low dressing, 58.00 to 63.50; 1150 to 1450 lbs., thin bulls 48.00 to 55.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, 800 to 900 lbs., 3 to 7 months bred, average to high blacks, 845.00 to 970.00; 2 years old, 850 to 900 lbs., 2 months bred, average blacks, 820.00; 3 years old, 1075 lbs., 7 months bred, high blacks, 1000.00; 2 to 4 years old, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 7 months bred, average quality, 780.00 to 860.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 3 to 4 months bred, quality, 650.00 to 715.00.
