Aberdeen cattle sales
The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 1,200 head Aug. 8, compared to 1,168 head last week and 3,119 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to $1 higher. A larger number of heavier fleshy cattle were offered. Several loads of feeders came off grass as well as several consignments of back-grounded cattle. Receipts included 65% steers and 35% heifers, with 99% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 643 to 649 lbs., 120.00 to 126.00 (122.74); 12 head, 779 lbs., 116.75; 833 to 834 lbs., 122.00; 53 head, 868 lbs., 114.75; 49 head, 955 lbs., 109.85; 4 head, 1032 lbs., 95.75; 16 head, 1063 lbs., 107.00 value added; 1130 to 1140 lbs., 97.40 to 99.60 (98.50); 32 head, 1208 lbs., 92.75 fleshy. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 834 lbs., 107.50; 14 head, 960 lbs., 101.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 653 lbs., 119.00; 715 to 726 lbs., 115.25 to 117.00 (115.51); 15 head, 775 to 789 lbs., 110.00 to 113.00 (112.41); 17 head, 880 lbs., 107.50; 11 head, 940 to 948 lbs., 102.00 to 105.50 (104.13); 7 head, 964 to 993 lbs., 95.00 to 104.75 (99.11); 5 head, 1008 lbs., 98.50; 1126 lbs., 90.00 fleshy; 20 head, 1262 lbs., 85.25 fleshy.
