Vermeer broadens Round Baler Product Line with "M" ClassicThe hunch of the "M" Series Baler by Vermeer has created another new "Classic" product line, introduced by the Pella, Iowa hay equipment specialists. The "Classics" are a perfect blend of the "M" Series features and the long-standing heritage of Vermeer baler features. According to Vermeer officials, the new 504M Classic and 505M Classic Balers arc matched and value-priced for the vast majority of today's forage operators with the perfect blend of features, including an exclusive net wrap option--called FlashWrap--that improves hay harvesting efficiency by reducing the amount of time, net wrap and fuel spent in the field. The simple optional NetWrap system feeds the net directly onto the main belts using an easy-to-operate friction pan mechanism. This eliminates the need for rubber feed rollers, feed belts and cutting knives. A combination of brake tension and friction feed: (a) maximizes the number of bales per roll. (b) maintains tension on the wrap for a clean cut and positive grip for wrapping the next bale. (c) automatically adjusts tension to the size of netwrap roll. Plus, the operator can actually speed up the wrapping cycle by triggering the start of the wrap function even while the bale is completing its final rotation within me chamber. The system handles both standard and over-width net. The two Classics produce high-density packages (47-inches wide on the 504M; 61-inches wide on the 505M). Bale diameters for each baler can vary anywhere from 36- to 61-inches. (Maximum bale weight for the 504M Classic is 1,200 pounds (dry)/2,000 pounds (silage); 1,400 pounds (dry)/2,000 pounds (silage) for the 505M Classic.) Both models arc easy to operate and offer many of the same features introduced on the original Vermeer 605M and 504M Balers (which are higher-production machines primarily designed for custom operators and big volume hay producers). With an optional silage baling kit, the 504M/505M Classics can easily harvest high nutrition, high-energy feed at recommended 50 percent to 65 percent moisture levels. The new Classic design features a combination vertical belt/drum starting principle for fast, reliable bale starting. Hydraulic control settings adjust the belt tensioning on both sides of the baler. Drop 'n Go Bale Ejection eliminates the need to disengage and re-engage the PTO when dropping a bale. Clean, separated belt design reduces potential buildup. Three-ply belts, with Alligator rivet lace, help increase wearability. A robust, center-pivot, electric twine-tie system (standard on each) features dual feed slots and is easy to thread, maintain and monitor. The upper drive, lower drive and the starter rollers are all built "through the wall" for increased bearing protection and stability. Large drive shafts and sprockets, premium-grade drive chains and bearings reduce wear and increase chain life. Reinforced steel side shields feature Rex-fit latches and transport safety locks for extra protection when transporting at higher speeds. Rust-resistant yellow zinc hardware plating, ground level servicing, flotation tires (31 x 13.5-15) and HaySaver wheels are all standard. The 504M/505M Classics offer three choices of bale monitoring. The standard manual electric controller for twine tie or net wrapping operations is easy to operate. The second monitor choice is the Accu-Bale Select Bale Monitor (optional) which controls twine or netwrap settings, bale size, overfill protection and alarm controls, as well as manual override and pause functions. Bale size, twine density and net density can all be adjusted "on-the-go" from the tractor. The optional Accu-Bale Plus Monitor also includes bale shape and twine feed sensors, tailgate lock alert. Both Accu-Bale Plus and Select Monitors offer convenient suction cup mounting. Other features include a 4-ball twine storage (504M Classic); 6-ball twine storage (505M Classic); highway light assembly; hydraulic hose guide; and sloped PTO cover shield. Minimum tractor horsepower is 45 hp for the 504M Classic; 50 hp for 505M Classic. Hydraulic requirements: one pair of auxiliary remote outlets; 2000 psi, 10 gpm flow; and 12 VDC power source (30AMP). Vermeer Manufacturing Co., manufactures a full line of haying equipment including large round balers, mowers, mower/ conditioners, rakes, tedders, bale processors, silage wrappers, bale movers and hay handling equipment ; plus a wide assortment of industrial equipment for tree, construction, environmental and underground utility service work.
