Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,961 head April 25, compared to 2,541 head last week and 2,172 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds were steady to $2 lower, 600 to 800 pounds were $3 to $5 lower on a light test, and over 800 pounds scarce. Holsteins under 500 pounds and over 700 pounds were steady, 500 to 700 pounds were $3 to $5 lower, and heifers were $2 to $4 lower. Demand was moderate to light, supply moderate. The feeder supply included 27% steers, 24% Holsteins, 39% heifers, 10% bulls, with 35% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 133.00 to 136.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 130.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 126.00, lot 552 lbs., weaned 128.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 127.00 to 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., thin 118.50 to 122.00, 550 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00; 600 to 665 lbs., 105.00 to 109.00; 700 to 770 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 360 to 400 lbs., 92.00 to 98.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 85.00 to 99.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 84.00 to 87.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 81.00 to 88.00; 700 to 710 lbs., 85.00; 840 to 875 lbs., 77.00 to 81.50; lot 949 lbs., 78.25.
