Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,622 head April 19, compared to 3,901 head last week and 5,270 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers at 350 to 600 pounds were steady, steers 600 to 800 pounds were $1 higher, and 800 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $1.50 higher. Heifers weighing 600 to 750 pounds were $1 lower, and 750 to 900 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 63% 600 lbs., and over, 36% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers.
