Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 3,637 head April 19, compared to 4,996 head last week and 7,758 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and feeder heifers at 300 to 750 pounds were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers at 750 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 higher, 900 to 950 pounds were $2 lower, and 950 to 1000 pounds were $1 higher. Feeder heifers at 750 to 900 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 76% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 10% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 52% steers and 48% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 109.00 to 114.25 (113.61); 650 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 113.00 (110.85); 750 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 104.50 (104.19). Medium and large frame 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 102.00 to 106.00 (103.45); 7 head, 771 lbs., 101.50; 850 to 900 lbs., 97.00 to 97.50 (97.46). Large frame 2, 11 head, 941 lbs., 84.75. Pairs: Per hair, young, Medium and large frame 1, 18 pair, 1160 to 1190.00 lbs., 1410.00 to 1450.00 (1416.81); middle-aged, 23 pair, 1240 to 1260 lbs., 1275.00 to 1300.00 (1291.21); short solid, Medium and large frame 2, 27 pair, 1280 to 1290 lbs., 990.00 to 1000.00 (991.86); broken mouth, Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 20 pair, 1275 to 1295 (1291) 875.00 to 925.00 (911.35). Middle-aged, Large frame 1 to 2, 4 pair, 1410 lbs., 1025.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 56.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 59.00 to 60.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 47.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 53.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 63.50 to 68.50 (65.67); high dressing, 69.00 to 69.75 (69.38); low dressing, 57.50 to 60.00 (58.75).
