OKC West livestock salesThe OKC West livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 5,613 head April 25, compared to 5,384 head last week and 5,144 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 lower. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle but once again several nice loads of feeding cattle available. Cattle futures sharply lower as corn prices rose sharply higher. Stocker steers and steer calves were steady to $3 higher. Stocker heifers and heifer calves were $1 to $3 lower. Demand was moderate to good for light weight cattle, best action on thin long weaned calves. Feeder cattle were in medium to fleshy conditions. Weigh-ups average to full, few gaunt. The supply consisted of 83% over 600 pounds, 11% under 600 pounds, 6% cows and bulls. The total supply included 30% heifers. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $1 lower. Packer demand was moderate to good. Demand was moderate for bred cows and pairs. A total of 350 cows and bulls sold with 35% going to packers.
