Wyobraska cattle sales

The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending for April 14, totaled 3,450 head, compared to 3,145 last week and 5,525 head last year, according to the USA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo.

Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly $1 to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trade is slow. No good price comparison available, few comparable sales were $1 higher. Offerings were light to moderate. Demand was moderate. Buyer inquiry was moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 44% of the supply, heifers 56%, with 50% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 130 head of the total receipts.

Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 390 to 395 ., 136.00 to 155.00; 465 to 480 lbs., 134.00 to 137.00; 525 to 570 lbs., 121.00 to 135.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 119.50 to 124.00; 665 to 680 lbs., 111.00 to 114.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.00 to 109.75; 810 to 900 lbs., 99.50 to 105.75; 915 to 950 lbs., 95.75 to 101.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 435 lbs., 133.00; 510 to 580 lbs., 118.00 to 126.50; 660 lbs., 108.00; 800 lbs., 97.75. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 750 lbs., 106.00. Delivered price, 860 lbs., 103.50.

Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 350 lbs., 125.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 120.00; 550 to 575 lbs., 109.00 to 119.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 99.50 to 113.75; 700 to 750 lbs., 95.50 to 106.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 91.00 to 100.50; 810 to 900 lbs., 93.35 to 98.50; 900 to 985 lbs., 91.50 to 94.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 lbs., 118.00; 435 to 480 lbs., 110.00 to 127.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 93.00; 725 to 750 lbs., 94.50 to 95.75. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 750 to 775 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00.
