Wyobraska cattle salesThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending for April 14, totaled 3,450 head, compared to 3,145 last week and 5,525 head last year, according to the USA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly $1 to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trade is slow. No good price comparison available, few comparable sales were $1 higher. Offerings were light to moderate. Demand was moderate. Buyer inquiry was moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 44% of the supply, heifers 56%, with 50% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 130 head of the total receipts.
