Weekly corn inspections came in at 39.1 million bushels as trade expectations were 35 to 40 million bushels. soybeans followed corn lower with start of good growing conditions across the Midwest and talk of increased harvest in South America. soybeans had weak demand in export sales coming in at 17.9 million bushels as compared to 20 to 25 million bushels. Grains inspected for export for week ending March 22: wheat totaled 14.4 million bushels, up 700 thousand bushels; corn 39.1 million bushels , down 200 thousand bushels; sorghum 2.9 million bushels, up 1.1 million bushels and soybeans 17.9 million bushels, down 2.3 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: wheat totaled 704.0 million bushels down 116.6 million; corn 1203.0 million bushels up 156.7 million; sorghum 86.2 million bushels down 11.6 million and soybeans 838.2 million bushels up 140.5 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. In export news, there were 6,020 tons of sorghum sold with an April 15 to 25 delivery date. In the futures close, Kansas City May wheat was $4.77, down 7 3/4 cents. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $4.57, down 8 cents; Minneapolis, $5.14, down 2 1/2 cents; Portland, $5.85 to $5.91, down 5 to 6 cents; St. Louis, $4.11, down 2 cents. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.71 to $3.73, down 12 cents; Minneapolis, $3.53, down 12 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $3.60 to $3.64, down 9 3/4 to 12 1/4 cents; Omaha, $3.65 to $3.66, down 12 cents. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $7.23, down 11 cents; Minneapolis, $6.93 1/2, down 11 cents; southern Iowa, $7.12 1/2 to $7.15 1/2, down 4 to 6 cents; central Illinois processors, $7.28 1/2 to $7.33 1/2, down 11 cents. Kansas City wheat prices March 27, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.10 1/4 to $5.40 1/4, down 5 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $5.32 1/4 to $5.45 1/4, down 5 3/4 to 6 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $5.29 1/4 to $5.45 1/4, down 6 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $5.28 1/4 to $5.38 1/4, down 6 3/4 cents.
