National ethanol conference returns to Nebraska

Nebraska

The Clean Fuels Development Coalition, a Washington D.C.-based group of ethanol companies, biofuel technology firms, and agri-ethanol organizations, announced the return of their national ethanol conference to Nebraska. Ethanol 2007: Emerging Issues Forum will be held at the downtown Omaha Magnolia Hotel on March 29 and 30. For the second year in a row Omaha will host the gathering. The Nebraska Ethanol Board co-sponsors the event that brings together ethanol producers, marketers, transporters and end users from across the country.

Doug Durante, CFDC's Executive Director, said the conference is especially timely given ethanol's dramatic growth in recent months. "Record gas prices, the Renewable Fuel Standard, and growing concerns over petroleum imports and energy security are driving unprecedented demand for ethanol," he said. "Nebraska is the nation's second largest ethanol producing state and a perfect location to gather and assess industry trends." The conference will provide a forum for interaction between industry experts and attendees. Topics range from ethanol technology advances and feed stock trends, transportation and safety issues, co-product innovations and market forecasts.

Todd Sneller, administrator of the Nebraska Ethanol Board and the CFDC Chairman, said Omaha was again chosen as the site for the conference because of intense local interest and the phenomenal pace of the industry's growth in Nebraska. "With most of the state's existing ethanol plants being expanded, eleven new facilities under construction and a couple of dozen more being considered, Nebraska is at the heart of this burgeoning industry," Sneller said. By 2008, the state will have a total ethanol production capacity of more than 1.5 billion gallons annually.

Other conference sponsors include the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council, Ethanol Across America, the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition and the American Coalition for Ethanol. The registration cost is $279 and participation is limited to the first 125 participants. For additional details about the conference, visit www.ne-ethanol.org.

Established in 1971, the Nebraska Ethanol Board assists ethanol producers with programs and strategies for marketing ethanol and related co-products. The Board supports organizations and policies that advocate the increased use of ethanol fuels--and administers public information, education and ethanol-focused research projects. The NEB also assists companies, communities and organizations in the development of ethanol production facilities in Nebraska.
