Tulsa stockyards auction reportThe Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,400 head Sept. 18, compared to 5,506 head last week and 4,461 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves were steady to $1 lower. Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady. Demand was very good with good attendance of buyers. Cattle in thin to medium condition with a few fleshy calves. Weigh-ups were average. Quality was average to good. Receipts were comprised of 37% steers, 49% heifers, 14% bulls, with 10% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. Demand was good on fleshier cows. A total of 485 cows and bulls sold with 52% going to packers.
