Texhoma cattle auction news

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 1,221 head Sept. 20, compared to 249 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, no recent test on feeders or calves. Demand was moderate for all classes. Fill was average. Quality was average to plain. The supply was comprised of 51% steers, 48% heifers with 68% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 107 cows and bulls sold with 63% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 406 lbs., 150.00; 470 to 472 lbs., 131.00 to 140.00 (139.79); 521 to 540 lbs., 125.00 to 133.50 (128.47); 568 to 589 lbs., 120.50 to 122.00 (121.42); 7 head, 650 lbs., 116.00 calves; 12 head, 732 lbs., 116.50; 239 head, 780 lbs., 115.00; 12 head, 826 lbs., 109.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 38 head, 769 lbs., 115.00. Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 379 lbs., 141.00; 5 head, 448 lbs., 131.00; 5 head, 459 lbs., 125.50; 5 head, 539 lbs., 117.50; 6 head, 630 lbs., 112.50 calves; 9 head, 704 lbs., 114.00; 28 head, 755 lbs., 110.50 to 113.50 (112.54); 8 head, 873 lbs., 106.25.

Medium and large frame 2, 426 to 448 lbs., 119.00 to 121.00 (120.67); 482 to 492 lbs., 115.50 to 116.00 (115.95); 18 head, 525 to 542 lbs., 111.25 to 112.25 (111.85); 9 head, 616 lbs., 106.00 calves.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 4 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1575 lbs., 49.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 52.50. Boners, 22 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1025 to 1475 lbs., 48.50 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 53.50; low dressing, 45.25. Lean, 37 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1200 lbs., 45.75 to 48.50; high dressing, 49.00 to 51.00; low dressing, 40.50 to 44.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 4 head, 1950 to 2125 lbs., 62.75 to 64.00; very high 67.75.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 4 years old, 1175 lbs., with 80-lb. calves, high blacks 1250.00; 5 years old, 1000 to 1025 lbs., with 80- to 200-lb. calves, average 920.00 to 960.00.
