Soybean association announces yield contest

The Kansas Soybean Association will hold its annual soybean yield contest again this year with the assistance of Kansas State University Agricultural Extension. The Kansas Soybean Commission, No-till on the Plains and various soybean seed companies will provide funds for cash awards and plaques for eight districts, including no-till and irrigated contest winners. In addition to entering the yield contest, soybean farmers may also enter the quality contest. A sample of seed from the harvested field will be analyzed for protein and oil content and a value will then be calculated. There is a $10 entry fee for contestants. Current KSA members are not required to pay the entry fee. The deadline for entries is Nov. 30, 2006. Details on the program and an entry form with a district map can be obtained by contacting KSA at 800-328-7390 or on the website at www.kansassoybeans.org under the Producer Information heading.
