Salina cattle sales news

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,533 head, Sept. 14, compared to 1,823 head, last week and 3,347 head, last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers 400 to 650 pounds were $3 to $4 lower, 650 to 750 pounds were not tested, 750 to 900 pounds were $4 to $6 lower, 900 to 1000 pounds were $1 lower. Feeder heifers 400 to 700 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, 700 to 950 pounds were $1 lower. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 82% 600 pounds and over, 17% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers.
