Pratt livestock auction report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,468 head Sept. 14, compared to 1,588 head last week and 3,285 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and feeder heifers 300 to 700 pounds were steady in a very light supply. Feeder steers 700 to 1000 pounds were steady to $5 lower. Feeder heifers 700 to 850 pounds were $1 to $4 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 lower. Receipts included 82% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, 6% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 52.00 to 55.00 (53.00). Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 46.00 to 51.00 (47.97); low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00 (42.76).

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 61.75 to 66.75 (63.45).
