Ozark Fall Farmfest bringing in a bumper crop of farm, ranch prFor the 27th year, the Ozark Fall Farmfest will feature a vast array of agricultural and rural living exhibits as well as purebred livestock. The event is set for Oct. 6 to 8 at the Missouri Entertainment and Events Center--formerly the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. It will spill over with more than 750 exhibits indoors and out and hundreds of animals. Farmfest has a long-established tradition of being the area's premier agricultural event. The primary reason for that is the exhibitors themselves who create an opportunity for farm and ranch folks to see an enormous range of quality products in one location. The Farmfest has become a popular venue for exhibiting livestock--particularly horses and cattle. Some of the area's finest breeders bring stock to Farmfest and the event includes quite a selection of other species as well. The live animal segment of the show presents a unique opportunity for stockmen to take a look at the kind of breeding stock available to them and learn more about the animals from the breeders themselves. As for the rest of the Farmfest, indoors and out, the site of the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds will be brimming over with trailers, tractors, cattle chutes, gates and panels, waterers, fencing, tools, trucks, forage equipment--the list goes on and on. Additionally, there will be rural living displays where a host of products designed to enhance the rural lifestyle will be on display. Once again, well-known stock dog trainer Danny Shilling from Bois D'Arc, Mo., will present daily stock dog clinics at Farmfest. Outstanding displays of antique equipment will be featured as the Ozarks Steam Engine Association and the Southwest Missouri Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association open a window to the past with an assortment of rare tractors, engines and old-time farm implements. Hours for the Ozark Fall Farmfest are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 6, 7 and 8. Admission and parking are free. The Ozark Empire Fairgrounds are easily accessed on the north side of Springfield, Mo., just off Interstate 44 at Exit 77. The Ozark Fall Farmfest is sponsored by the Missouri Entertainment and Events Center and Farm Talk Newspaper.
