Nebraska Cattlemen announces photo contest winnersNebraska The Nebraska Cattlemen has announced the winners of this year's NC-Elanco Animal Health Photo Contest. The winning entries are on display at the Beef Pit during the Nebraska State Fair. The winning photo in the Senior Division came from Evelyn Mitchell of Chadron. It shows cattle being rounded up and a vast background that includes trees, a river and a butte. The picture also won the Senior Landscape category. The top Junior picture came from Eric Frenzen of Fullerton. It shows a black cow and her calf on a fall pasture range with rolling hills in the background. His picture also won the Junior Cattle category. In addition to a $60 prize as category winners, Mitchell and Frenzen will each receive $20 for having the top picture in their age group. Prize money is provided by Elanco Animal Health, a division of Eli Lilly. The winner in each of the four subject categories receives $60 cash, with $35 awarded to second place and $20 to third. Junior division People: First, MaKenzi Spurgin, Paxton; second, MaKenzi Spurgin; third, A.J. Underwood, McCool Junction; honorable mention, Eric Frenzen. Cattle: First, Eric Frenzen; second, Eric Frenzen; third, Eric Frenzen; honorable mention, MaKenzi Spurgin. Landscape: First, MaKenzi Spurgin; second, Olivia Sonderman, Columbus; third, Eric Frenzen; honorable mention, MaKenzi Spurgin. Nuts & Bolts: First, Olivia Sonderman; second, Olivia Sonderman; third, Kyle Ramsdell. NC plans to publish the first-place photos in Nebraska Cattleman magazine, and all the entries are eligible for consideration as a cover photo for the magazine. "We thank all the photographers," said Mike Fitzgerald, NC vice president--communications. "We enjoyed an excellent turnout of 114 pictures this year, covering all the seasons in Nebraska. We would also like to thank Elanco Animal Health, which provides the financial support that makes this competition possible." The Nebraska Cattlemen association serves as the spokesman for the state's beef cattle industry and represents professional cattle breeders, ranchers and feeders, as well as 46 county and local cattlemen's associations.
