Wyobraska cattle sales notesThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Oct. 21, totaled 12,700 head, compared to 14,525 head last week and 20,700 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming Auctions, feeder steer and heifer calves sold mostly steady to $5 lower, with instances $5 to $8 lower, yearlings were $2 to $3 lower in light test. Demand was moderate to good. In the direct trade feeder steers and heifers were not tested. Direct trade at a standstill. Offerings were light to moderate. Demand were moderate. Buyer inquiry was moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight.
