Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,084 head Oct. 23, compared to 1,949 head last week and 3,404 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, over 500 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Feeder heifers were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 92% and slaughter cows and bulls 8% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 56% of the run, heifers 44%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 43%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 325 to 400 lbs., 147.00 to 157.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 126.50 to 137.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.50 to 118.00, 525 to 600 lb. yearlings 109.50 to 116.00; lot 627 lbs., 108.00, package 651 lb. calves 96.50; 750 to 775 lbs., 103.00 to 107.85, lot 721 lbs., fleshy 96.00; package 848 lbs., 98.50; lot 984 lbs., 92.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 139.00 to 141.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 129.00; 500 to 575 lbs., 104.50 to 114.50, 560 to 575 lb. yearlings 100.00 to 106.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 98.00 to 106.00, package 647 lbs., thin 109.50; package 764 lbs., fleshy 92.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 92.50 to 95.00. Boners. 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 43.75 to 48.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 46.00 to 49.50; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 41.00 to 47.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 38.50 to 42.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 34.50 to 37.00.

Slaughter bulls: High dressing, 1585 to 1980 lbs., 62.00, few.

Replacement cows: Large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1100 to 1585 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 525.00 to 650.00 per head. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 1015 to 1380 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, 710.00 to 825.00 per head; young to middle-aged, 1005 to 1175 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 460.00 to 510.00 per head.
