St. Joseph feeder pig sales reportThe St. Joseph Mo., feeder pig auction reported receipts of 262 head Oct. 24, compared to 370 head last week and 504 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo. Compared to last week, feeder pigs sold $8 to $10 lower. Buyer attendance was very light as grains were on the mind of local farmers. Recent rains in the immediate trade area have put a damper on crop harvest progress. High corn prices and lower slaughter hog prices also pressured the value of feeder pigs. Prices paid per head on actual weights. U.S. 1 to 2: 55 to 59 lbs., 35.00 to 47.00; 63 to 67 lbs., 36.00 to 40.00; package 71 lbs., 37.00; package 86 lbs., 52.25; 107 to 113 lbs., 50.00 to 53.25.
