Sioux Falls sheep sales

The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,816 head, compared to 1,282 head last week and 1,713 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, slaughter lambs were weak to $1 lower. Slaughter ewes and feeder lambs sold mostly steady. A special goat sale was held with approximately 800 goats on offer finding good buyer demand. The supplies were comprised of 29% slaughter lambs, 24% feeder lambs, 4% slaughter ewes, 21% slaughter kids, and 11% slaughter nannies with the balance being mostly slaughter billies and miscellaneous sheep.

Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 9 head, 112 lbs., 88.00; 50 head, 134 lbs., 96.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 115 to 125 lbs., 90.00 to 96.00 (94.54); 131 to 146 lbs., 93.75 to 96.25 (94.92).

Slaughter ewes: Good 3 to 4, 8 head, 205 to 250 lbs., 32.00 to 38.00 (35.05). Utility and Good 1 to 3, 16 head, 160 to 176 lbs., 35.00 to 40.00 (38.18). Utility 1 to 2, 120 to 150 lbs., 23.00 to 26.00 (24.68); 6 head, 163 to 165 lbs., 26.00 to 30.00 (28.01). Cull 1, 6 head, 100 to 140 lbs., 20.00 to 22.00 (21.75).

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 45 lbs., 121.00; 16 head, 54 to 56 lbs., 116.00; 60 to 68 lbs., 110.00 to 118.00 (114.18); 71 to 75 lbs., 117.50; 31 head, 85 lbs., 110.00; 15 head, 94 to 99 lbs., 92.00 to 101.00 (94.90); 36 head, 104 lbs., 99.50.
