Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,766 head Oct. 19, compared to 2,812 head last week and 2,964 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 400 to 550 pounds were steady to $2 lower on a light test, 550 to 850 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, and 850 to 950 pounds were steady. Heifers at 400 to 650 pounds were steady, and 650 to 900 pounds were $1 to $2 lower on a light test. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 72% 600 lbs., and over, 26% 600 pounds and under, 2% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 66% steers and 34% heifers.
