Pratt livestock auction news

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., Oct. 19, reported receipts of 2,393 head, compared to 2,536 head last week and 2,491 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 300 to 700 pounds and feeder heifers weighing 300 to 650 pounds were not enough for a market test but a lower undertone was noted. Feeder steers at 700 to 800 pounds were $6 lower, 800 to 900 pounds were steady, and 900 to 1000 pounds were $2 lower. Feeder heifers at 650 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 82% 600 pounds and over, 13% 600 pounds and under, 5% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 53% steers and 47% heifers.
